IC INFORMATION
Character Name: Kurahashi Yuuta
Species: ????? All we know is that he is not a youkai.
Canon: A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School!
Canon Point: Chapter 125: The Youkai Circus (Part 2)
Character Age: Pretending to be 16, actually at least 120+ years old.
CRAU: No
Character Appearance: Here!
Powers and Abilities:
CLAIRVOYANCE. Kurahashi is known to be someone who can predict the future. While posing as a Kudan it is implied that he can only predict misfortune, it's implied that his real ability is that he can predict anything that happens in the future instead.

ONMYOJI. As someone who possesses the blood of Abe no Seimei, he is well skilled in the onmyodo used by the Abe family. So far it has been shown that he uses talismans to summon multiple swords, and that he is capable of the same exorcism powers that Haruaki Abe wields.

ATHLETICISM. He is deemed to be the third best in Class 2-3 when it comes to physical abilities, and he is vice-captain of the basketball club despite not using physical magic or flight to aid him in the sport. He is known to have the reflexes to dodge bullets and the leg strength to jump long distances, things a normal human would be incapable of doing.

What Did Your Character Wish For? For Toubyou to forget his "uglier side."
What Potion Did They Receive? Red
Did They Drink It? No
If Yes, What Element/Animal? Fire

Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon, or who is someone they miss the most and why?
There are two people whom Kurahashi Yuuta considers to be important, one for each different stage in his life. The first one is the god Isaburou Ebisu, whom he has known from a young precocious age. No matter how Ebisu is — whether he is the soft-hearted child he once was or the immature yet sometimes cruel person he is now — Yuuta will always see him as someone he needs to protect and watch over. As much as he seems to complain about Ebisu, Yuuta will always have a close bond with him.

The other person is Toubyou Yamato, whom Kurahashi has met during his time undercover as a student. They are classmates, roommates, and basketball teammates, and despite everything he has found himself growing close to Toubyou. Somehow against his will he has become someone Kurahashi wants to protect as well, even though he doesn't want him to get exposed to the darker side of their world.

2. What are they most afraid of and why?
Not a lot of things scare Yuuta, not when he has lived for so many years and is so capable of many things — in fact, chances are he's the one who scares more people instead. He's a simple-minded person in many ways: if there's a problem, he will solve it. If he can't think his way around it, then he would just use brute force. What he finds fearful would be something that he can't escape, cannot defeat, and someone who is much more capable of fearful things than himself.

That person could only be Abe no Seimei, the person whose blood lives in his veins, the monster who wrought fear into the hearts of many youkai and gods in eras before.

3. What are their emotional, mental, and physical weaknesses and why?
Emotionally, he is a very closed off individual. With a persona that is built straight up on a lie it is hard to tell whether he's being honest or not. He's not even honest with himself, claiming that he doesn't find school to be fun when he has found genuine joy in hanging out with his classmates. Most people would find it hard to get a read on him, because he communicates entirely on lies and deceit.

Mentally, he's not the most impressive person in terms of academics. In class 2-3 he's the second worst when it comes to studies, and it doesn't look like he's flubbing it on purpose, either. He prefers to solve things in the most straightforward way (i.e. violence) over thinking about some strategy or plan.

Physically he might be skilled in battle, but he's not particularly a muscular character. He doesn't have super strength or any physical specs that are more impressive than what a human can do. He is deadly in a fight, yes, but that is because of his skills and experience rather than what his body is capable of.

4. What discrepancies are there between their inner self (who they feel they are) and their outer self (how they present themselves to others)?
On the outside, Kurahashi appears to be a mild-mannered, silly individual. He easily gets flustered by the antics that surround him, and tries his best to be a voice of reason for the more boisterous individuals in their class. He shows a lot of concern and care for his classmates, and tries his best to be a good supporting role for them. He might be a bit plain, but he is a good friend to his peers and he is always there for them in the capacity he can provide.

…Of course, almost everything I just said happens to be a well-constructed lie.

Yuuta is actually a cold, stoic indivdual. Someone who has experienced much hardship in his life, someone who can calmly cut down his opponents, someone who cares nothing about the fate of his enemies. He views antics with mild frustration and annoyance, and would rather get through problems as quickly as possible. He doesn't hold back when it comes to violence, often suggesting extreme measures to just get through things. Despite this he is not a sadistic individual — a sword isn't supposed to feel anything when he cuts down his opponents in the first place. He sees himself as a tool and nothing more.

5. What would make them happiest and why?
Happiness? That's a concept that is long lost to him. As someone who has lived through many hardships, happiness is hard to come by — eventually, it loses its meaning, and it becomes highly unnecessary in order to live. Yuuta hasn't really been happy in a long, long time. He is here because he has no other choice but to fulfill his duties. The reason why he can be a sword of the gods for the longest time is because he holds no desire in his heart, and that is how he can bear the sin of killing so many youkai whenever necessary. A sword that has no desires has no room for happiness.

…Ah, that's right. Maybe there is something after all.

Basketball. Basketball makes him happy. A simple sport where he can shed away the worries of the world, and simply live in the moment of it all. An activity that he can do with his friends and teammates. Basketball is the closest thing he has to achieving a normal life.

6. What characteristics does someone need to have to be your character's ideal significant other?
As a sword who lives a life filled with duty, he doesn't really have room in his heart to think about a significant ideal other. He already has his hands full with his task as a spy and guardian, why would he even think of romance in any capacity? Which is why an ideal significant other would be someone who could lend a supportive hand to him and help him out when the going gets tough. He might not be someone who needs help, he might not be someone who asks for help, but it is something that he needs whether he realizes it or not.

Another thing to note is that both the people he is closest to, Toubyou and Ebisu, were both happy-go-lucky and soft-hearted in some point in their lives. It is possible that he does value the naive innocence that comes from others, especially when he doesn't posses that same pure-heartedness.

7. Would your character make a sacrifice to save someone else and why or why not?
Not really, unless it's someone he cares about. He doesn't concern himself much with the troubles of others, and he's not a Samaritan — leaving someone to their doom wouldn't leave a blemish on his conscience. Living for himself has been hard on its own already, he has no capacity to actively help others as well. But he does have a heart, and he does have people he cares about, so if one of them is in danger them maybe he would lend a hand for them.

8. What is one thing they would tell their younger self if they had the chance, or if your character is young, what is one thing they would want their older self to remember?
There's no use to warn a clairvoyant about the future, so he would rather ask the him of the future rather than the him of the past. And what he wants to know is…is it all worth it? Being a spy for the Takamagahara, doing their bidding — was this the correct path to take? He holds no contempt for the gods that he works for, but now that he is surrounded by youkai that calls him their friend Yuuta can't help but wonder if he was foolish for stepping into such a light-filled world in the first place. Maybe he was never the right person for the job, after all. But maybe he also is, and that things turned out for the better for him. He just wants to know if he should continue down this path.

9. When in dire circumstances does your character fight, flee, freeze or fawn and how does that look?
He would, at first, pretend to freeze. He's supposed to be a wimp that can't hold his ground in a fight after all! Kurahashi may be (pretending to be) a youkai, but not all youkai are suited for combat, okay?! He'll do everything in his power to help out, especially with his ability to detect misfortune, but actually being in the fray of danger itself? No thank you.

Especially when being in the fight would reveal who he really is.

If Yuuta is free to do whatever he wants, away from the eyes of everyone else, he would wholeheartedly fight against the source of the conflict. Violence is his first and last answer to everything that proves itself to be a problem. In fact, it would be better if all the problems of the world could be solved by wielding his katana and stabbing it.

10. Why did your character make the wish they did?
He has no regrets at all for blowing his cover and exposing his true self to Toubyou — he'd do it again if it means he could save him. But he knows that he has destroyed something in the process: that precious friendship that Kurahashi managed to nurture all these years. He doesn't want to confront the fact that Toubyou now knows more than he should. So — it would be best if he knew nothing. Let things continue as they are, even if Yuuta's status as a spy meant that his happiness at Hyakki Academy is superfical and temporary. It would be easier that way.
